Interior lichen

Apologies for another, very similar, lichen shot, but this one is taken inside our cottage. It is on part of the original outside wall, possibly dating from the late 16th century. There are known to have been at least two extensions to the original building, in the 18th and 19th centuries and the bricks used for the first of these are thought to have come from the ruins of the nearby Salden House, a grand Tudor mansion.

The extension that covered up this wall has to be at least 150 years old, possibly more. Lichens are known to be able to stand long bouts of severe dessication - is it possible that some of this lichen could thrive again if exposed to some rainwater, light and air. Intriguing!
