High Tech Bob House

Dear Diary,

Ice fishing has begun in earnest around here.  Little Clemons Pond near me is a popular place for it and this man had brought along some high tech gear.  I don't know about you but his Bob House seemed to have an evil face to me.  The man set up his lines and then had gone to make a phone call!  He had to move around the ice until he found a signal.  It all seemed a bit surreal to me for some reason.

It was Holocaust Remembrance Day a couple of days ago and I posted the extra on Facebook.  It is a portion of a letter my Dad wrote to his sister on July 5, 1945 from a hospital outside of Paris where he was recuperating from his injuries.  He speaks of the horror of war and the concentration camps and his words are so powerful.  "You can't imagine what it was like unless you saw it with your own eyes."  As President Biden said at the Covid memorial, "To heal we must remember..."  Dad rarely talked about the war and never about the concentration camps.  He never really recovered from the experience either.  Now soldiers facetime with family.  The world has sure changed in so many ways but the horror of war is still the same.
