Collect & Bring

Posting this Jan 2021

After agreeing the sale yesterday, today I returned to collect the 1965 John Deere from the outskirts of Munich. Borrowed a car trailer from the local garage. We got home safely and nothing´fell off. I remember not enjoying driving it off the trailer alone backwards. I hate such things, even small diggers one can rent that wobble about and stand at alarming angles as one fights with the controls.

Had forgotten I had a Munich numberplate on the car. Used to always have the poshest number plate in Germany "STA-" for the county of Starnberg where all the rich and stars live around the lake of the same name, just to the south of Munich. The county has the most registered cabriolets in Germany.  My company was in the town of Gilching part of Starnberg county and number plates are always done in the county of the registered owner, whether private or business, In 2001 we had moved offices to Ismaning, the other side of Munich and in its Outer Munich county and so new plates. Numberplates do not stay with cars for their lifetime, but only so long as you live in the same county and would be kept if you sold it to someone also in that county.
