Tiny Brocken Spectre ....

A mountain phenomenon where your own shadow is cast on the mists below you. I have never seen one with such a big halo. The mist kept coming and going and Lindsey and myself were rooted to the spot for about 20 minutes taking photos. (That’s my excuse for being so slow today anyway!) We had followed a perfectly safe route up to the summit of the Croix de Chaux, parallel to the pistes. At the moment all “real” ski mountaineering is not safe because of avalanche danger and lower down there have been landslides of saturated ground.
