for the old and the New

I have grown onions for many years now.  In most years I like to save a few of the best from the previous year and set them in the ground and allow them to re-grow and set seed.

However this cunning plan did not work well last year and I have actually had to buy in some fresh seed... This certainly did not appeal to my sense of thrift...

So here you see the remainder of last year's onions along with the cheerful appearance of the first of this years new batch.
