One Square Metre

I wandered around the garden looking for a place for the One Square Metre Challenge. On the jerusalem artichokes was a grasshopper… and a robber fly! Didn’t have my camera, of course. The robber fly couldn’t wait, but the grasshopper did. Then I saw a lizard scurry under the leaves. No luck there, but there was a praying mantis with a blowfly, and a tube wasp, and another mantis, and it was eating too.

Since I might not see anything of interest there again I decided to blip all four insects that I captured. In the main image is the European tube wasp and the NZ lowland grasshopper. The extra shows one mantis nymph eating a brown blowfly and the one with the crumpled wing case eating something I can’t identify.,
