Doodle #11 (Monday 1st February 2021)

Living in an 18th century forge has its advantages and its responsibilities. On the one hand it has history, character and soul; on the other it is a voracious unfeeling money pit. This morning was spent organising yet more work on the property, some of it repairs, some of it enhancements.

Consequently I did not get out to get any pictures, nor was I tempted given the dismal cold greyness of the day, and I had phonecalls to make.

I just had time to snap another art school doodle, this time apparently abstracted from a no. 6 drill.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Richard and Linda Thompson - First Light (1978)
First Light was the first of their albums that I didn't buy upon release, and I can see why. Linda Thompson's vocals and Richard Thompson instrumental work, especially his guitar work, is inspired, but many of the songs are quite run of the mill. I heard it today because it is on CD5 of the Hard Luck Stories box set released late in 2020.
This track closes the album and is treated to a string transcription by the legendary Robert Kirby, who conducted it. Curious fact: he produced and arranged Sugar Me by Lynsey De Paul.
