Samlesbury Hall

Beautiful sunny day so I went out to a nearby historic building.
Samlesbury Hall has had a very chequered history. Built in 1325 it has been at times an ancestral home, a 'factory' for handloom weavers, a pub, and a school. Fallen into ruin by 1924 it was acquired by a builder with the intention of razing it and building houses. A group of Blackburn businessmen stepped in and bought it off the builder and set up a trust to restore it.
This view is the back of the building (the front is black and white) and shows off the feature I like the best - the chimneys.
