Unlike last Saturday’s rare sheep which had their long fleeces to keep warm, these cows were able to shelter from the sleet in the comparative warmth of a barn.  Possibly they might be envious of the sheep in nearby fields with their plentiful supply of swedes outside and the horses which often share the fields with the cows but the grass is too short and sparse for the herd of cows so they have a plentiful supply of hay in the troughs instead.  Meanwhile the nearby chickens are now facing their ninth week in lockdown unable to roam the fields due to the threat of avian flu but it is still possible to buy eggs from the honesty box.
