But, then again . . . . .

The Moat.

A back-Blip from when we still had snow.

A walk with Herself today wearing new non-slip devices on our boots; they’re really rather good. I did try quite hard - but still failed to fall over. Mrs TD was a little more sensible. It was a slow walk with so many people wanting to stop and chat.

The Blip is from an area that used to be known as “The Bing” but is officially called “The Moat”, both names coming from the coal mine whose remnants were still here when Jnr used to come tobogganing. The Bing disappeared to be use as hardcore for some new major road in the area, then the space was left to re-wild and became a sort of nature reserve. Worse things could have happened to it and, possibly, still could if capitalism has it’s way. There is now a group of “Friends” to look after it’s interest, I suspect the number of members could be counted on the fingers of one hand, but one of them did a bird count last week and recorded surprisingly large populations of bullfinches and yellow hammers amongst other species.
They have asked me to document changes to the area through the next few years; unsurprisingly, I am the only member of the growing village community stupid enough to show an interest.
