Hiding in plain sight

Bracken Map (Rhopographus filicinus) is a spectacularly ubiquitous but seldom noticed fungus that rampages over dead bracken at this time of year. When I was looking at these funny little black lines I was reminded of the dashes in morse code and the marks of various cuneiform scripts. That led in turn to a quick Google search on Ugaritic script and now I'm in the midst of developing those shapes into a design for a new linoprint. I never know where new ideas are going to come from.
