A 'doing' day

Decided to start the garden tidy as it was so mild and dry today - I like to leave the cutting back of perennials til spring so it gives cover for all manner of creepy crawlies over the worst of winter and hence food for the birds too!
Also pruned some roses and clematis. 
While tootling down to the shed I could hear bullfinches calling to each other and spotted the female investigating the feeders at that end if the garden - hooray - haven't seen them in the garden for a couple of years. 
Also there's been a big charm of goldfinches around late pm for a few days and today they were out in force and giving a lots of lovely views and chattering.
