La Perouse Museum

Today it was a small exhibition of Max Dupain’s photographs of the Caltex Oil Refinery at Kurnell and around La Perouse in the 1950s.

Outside there’s a memorial to Jean-Francois de Galaup, Comte de La Perouse, who landed at Botany Bay on 26 January 1788, a few days after the British, stayed six weeks and then disappeared into the Pacific. Nowadays it’s the site of Bastille Day celebrations.

The curve of white sand is Frenchman’s Beach.

Have a great weekend everyone!
