I cowered under the duvet this morning. The screech of a chain saw very close by meant something in my world was changing. By half eleven the tree surgeons were eating chips, pie and curry sauce while sitting on our wall, and there was a lot more house in view where there used to be tree. They left a few off-cuts as thanks for their sunny perch. A difficult period of adjustment has begun.
