Surreal Rio Grande

Reflections from the west bank.

Cerulean sky meets silver-topped cottonwoods,
bowing cordially to rusty salt cedar,
who stand sentinel to brown and blonde foxtail barley.

River meets land...meets sky...and reflects........
How fortunate am I...........?

Quiet.  Listen.........
You will hear, upstream, the long-necked guttural flutter when the sandhill cranes call.....
grounded in the knowledge of flight.

Yes, I hear, but I wonder: is it safe to head north?

It's warm right here, right now, facing westward into the sun.
Do not worry about the rest.

Yes, we rest, but what about the north?

Rest assured, right here is best...
