Coot: Calmness & Curves

Long time, no coot!

This is a coot being peaceful (irreproducible photograph?): perhaps it is contemplating life, the universe, and everything... Perhaps it is thinking, "Why always the fighting?"... Perhaps it is gazing longingly at its own reflection...

It certainly was looking picturesque, and I like all the curves in the resulting picture: the ripples, the wake, its rounded body, the curves in its plumage. It had just touched the water's surface with its beak causing the ripples that are moving away from that point, and there is a little neck of water (clearer in large) still in contact with its beak (held by surface tension).

I also got (much closer) pictures of Mrs. Pochard today, but I've blipped her too recently; I think she's becoming slightly less shy as she gets used to the traffic on Mount Pond. The tufted ducks were still making their adorable little courting noises too (*sigh*).
