What a lovely day:-

to feed the Bees

My bee hives are not short of food at this time of year because  I go to a great deal of trouble to give them plenty of feed in the autumn.

Although it is bitterly cold outside, the new bee season has begun and the queens are laying eggs and new brood is being raised.  I can tell this is happening by simply looking at the front of each hive on a fine day and can see the bees bringing back pollen.

However, in order to give them encouragement, I feed them a little candy in the upturned plastic dishes.  It always surprises me just how quickly the bees find it and start to take it down into the hive.
