Rare example of thatch in this land of slate

Two or three years old, it is weathering well and looking good. I particularly like the traditional embellishment on the ridge - still standing proudly in place, the straw pheasant watches over all - he's a bit lost in against the tree in the background, here... may have to replace this with one from a better angle. Sad to see the cottage apparently closed up, but at least it doesn't look unloved!
