View from the Tip

Walked with Jonty this morning. It was bitingly cold, felt like the surface of my eyeballs were freezing over! No snow though, just the odd tiny flake dancing in the slight breeze. When we got back home we both had a little sleep and then loaded the car for the Recycling Centre. Shouldn't call it 'The Tip' nowadays, there is no landfill in Gloucestershire, it all either gets recycled or incinerated. Incinerator info at the end.

On the way in I was looking around for Blip opportunities and spotted the flooded area in the trees. It is a dip in the land, which was landfill, and when it's dry you can see it would be quite deep.
But as I was headed out I stopped to take the photo and then noticed I could see Gloucester Cathedral and the slightly snowy Cotswolds in the distance. Apologies for the huge block of residential flats blocking the bottom part of the Cathedral. I do wish councils would not allow buildings over 2 stories in such towns.

Incinerator info;
The incinerator can handle up to 190,000 tonnes of waste a year and burns it at 850 degrees C. It cost £633 Million to design and build.
The burning waste is reduced to ash and is generating electricity for 25,000 homes.
If you are driving along the M5 motorway it is situated near Juction 12, exit for Gloucester and Quedgeley (former large RAF Maintenance Unit camp). Can't really miss it, big green thing! See the Extra, stolen from Gloucestershire Live website as was the information.
