Ice ice baby

Martin tested the depth of the ice on the pond by stepping on it this morning... and his foot went straight through.  Fortunately only one foot rather than two! This was the broken piece of ice showing how thick it was.

Although we've not had any more snow it's been bitterly cold, but sunny and lovely for walking.

We walk past the housing development on Horseheath Road every day and it's been very quiet for a couple of days.  I spotted someone so asked why.  Turns out it's a health and safety call, but not because they can't work in the snow.  Frozen conditions mean no running water and it's not OK in these COVID times for the workers to be unable to wash their hands.

I would never have guessed that it was something so mundane - we had thoughts of a gas leak or an 11th hour planning objection.  Interesting eh?
