The roads are for cars

I walked a long way to meet a friend to walk around a park a couple of times and then I walked back.

It was so icy that on a back street, (where there was next to no traffic) I walked in the road. I heard a beep and moved to the side.

The driver slowed down, wound his window down and shouted:
“The road is for cars. The pavement is for people.”

I was a tad surprised and couldn’t think quick enough to answer him.

‘Pah’ I say.
