Little Red Envelopes

I have discovered that red is perhaps one of the hardest colours to photograph, so apologies for the pic.

Q cooked our Lunar New Year meal and it was delicious.  A beef stew that was really tasty, a vegetable dish that was very similar to our coleslaw but with the addition of chicken and fresh herbs, and stick rice, vietnamese ham and pickled vegetables.    All favourites of Q's and food she has missed.  We still have the Bánh ChÆ°ng but I am not sure if the ones we have are pre cooked or not.  If they are not then it is between six and fifteen hours in a steamer!!!!   I hoped they are pre cooked!!!

All three girls got a little red envelope with a personalised printed envelope within it and their "lucky money".  Our two Polish girls were really puzled and wanted to give the money back because they hadn't earnt it.  Q explained the tradition and they reluctantly accepted it.

Q was really surprised and delighted that we had followed tradition and given the girls the envelopes.
