Brand new butterfly

We had a very large swan plant bush which we covered with mesh to keep the butterflies out once we saw a few eggs. Thank goodness we did as the caterpillars demolished the bush. Luckily for the last few stragglers I had some back up plants. I think we've got 3-4 dozen pupa around the garden, which my husband has marked with coloured pegs, so we don't accidentally knock them off. This is one of the first butterflies to hatch. It spent the next few hours pumping up its wings and then flew away. It was a female and since then a male has also hatched.
