The dropped stitch

poor weather

Two swans in the bay this morning. It's unusual to see them there. They may be seeking shelter from the wild weather, or perhaps fleeing a frozen loch.

Our weather is so local here in Orkney. Some folk have been snowed in today, facing blocked roads with the soft powdery snow being blown into massive drifts by the strong winds. For us, just a bitter wind to contend with - so I was glad to get home after a scuttle to the village. The barriers were closed earlier on for a while which means there must have been a considerable amount of 'wave action'. [Such an inadequate description! One pictures a jolly person with hand in the air, greeting or bidding you farewell. Instead, this kind of wave action involves a large lump of water landing on top of your vehicle, causing your heart to beat at double speed and the windscreen wipers to suddenly become ineffective.]

This is the second weekend of the mass vaccination in Kirkwall and the second weekend of poor weather. It should be my turn next weekend to make the trip in to the hospital. I wonder what the weather will be throwing at us by then....?
