Whoosh.....

As we roamed on the Port Hills today,  above our heads was a whooshing sound, immediately recognisable as the distinctive wingbeats of keruru, New Zealand's native pigeon.  We watched as a group of them landed and perched on nearby trees to feed on berries.  Fascinating!
