Milky ice.

The ice on the water is now quite opaque and milky. It was not the best surface for walking; so we doubled back and looked for a less icy path - we succeeded, but then it was a route of thawing snow and ice. However we persevered and had a nice walk.

On younger son gave us a slice of home made chocolate orange cheesecake he’d made (for Valentine’s Day!). Eaten during Family FaceTime this evening. We talked of last year’s trip to Amsterdam, what we’d done this day then etc. And we discussed coronavirus; how it had barely featured on the front of a newspaper in the hotel then and today - where it’s cases etc and vaccinations that feature so much.

International quarantine restrictions came into force today - about securing and maintaining public health. Red list countries into England and all countries into Scotland require to quarantine in nominated hotels; the matter of Scots travelling through English airports is unresolved. The disparity between the two public health regimes is again in sharp relief. The First Minister today too spoke of “data not dates” when media were pushing on return to school dates in Scotland.
