further testimony to the age of this building. an old and unused Bell telephone junction box set into the wall base -sloppily at that- obviously retro-fitted into the room. i was told that before the lakeshore's expansion, maybe even before Chicago's annexation of Lakeview township, this building was created as a luxury apartment tower for wealthy families (it's certainly very "luxurious" anymore). so it's feasible that this was one of the first buildings to be outfitted for early telephony.
