Sgwarnog: In the Field

By sgwarnog

Wary

It's been a dramatic winter for the Little Owls. Local wildflife watchers have reported that the male was rescued after being found badly injured, but was ultimately euthanised. More positively, the female has re-paired on the same territory.

Today was my first sighting in several months and my presence on the path was enough to set off alarm shrieks from some distance away. By the time I was walking past all was quiet, but one was still keeping a wary eye on me.

Nearby, the smaller birds, including Nuthatch and Bullfinch, were active in the hedgrows and trees.
