Birches

These hill top birches were swaying in the stiff afternoon breeze and reminded me of half remembered lines from Robert Frost's 'Birches'

Across the lines of straighter darker trees... black branches up a snow-white trunk.

The path up to the trees (See extra) was almost clear of snow. The white patch on the rock is a form of crustose lichen.
