Peruvian gourd

This one was hand carved by A. Osores in the village of Cochas near Huancayo. I bought it there in 1987, but unfortunately it has faded over the years. Gourds are usually a kind of straw blonde colour, and often crudely decorated. I liked this one because it was different and intricately detailed. It's a work of art really. My extra photo shows you more of the detail.
