Crest of Moûtiers

This little crest pops up all over the town so I see it a lot and mostly take it for granted. In our apartment, which we rented because it was furnished, our TV stand has the crest also. I looked up what it means and the keys are the symbol of the apostle Peter, patron saint of the cathedral in Moûtiers, and the eagle is a two headed eagle that symbolized the union of church and state under the same ruler. Funny because France is "laïque" (secular), but history and culture must be protected!
