Return to the North

Generation gap

I’ve been feeling the effects of lockdown a little bit over the last couple of weeks. Feeling very caged and upset about not seeing people etc.
I decided today to head down into town to try and find some cushions and while I was in the shop car park I messaged my aunt to see if she was in. I thought I could go sit in the car in their drive and have a natter. She said they were heading out to the local country park for a walk with the grandkids (who are in their bubble) so I decided to head there too for a walk and a catch up. Has done my mental health a world of good to see them.
L had a specialist appointment about her bone tumour and the prognosis was that it was benign and wasn’t growing so they were going to leave it for the time being. At some point she will likely need an operation to remove it but that a check up in 6months is suffice. Her brother J has been struggling a bit with lockdown too and ended up sat in the car crying with frustration at not being able to hug people.

This shot though made it for me. Here is L’s older brother C who for a number of years was a pain in the rear end with some real ‘spectrum’ type behaviours and tantrums. He has metamorphosed into a wonderful young lad who was happily keeping his elderly grandad (my uncle) company while the women behind gossiped :-) He is wonderful with his younger brother J who is finding his physical limitations very upsetting at the minute. They are an amazing family and love ‘em to bits
