L3 Day 62 Another NT house...Polesden Lacey. A walk around the gardens and some of the estate. The ‘winter garden’ had lots of nice snowdrops, some irises , cyclamen and aconites but many parts were fenced off including the children’s play area. The pets cemetery has 17 gravestones for the dogs of the last owner Mrs Margaret Greville.(See extra) Her favourite was a West Highland Terrier called RIP. Mrs Greville was a society hostess entertaining royalty and celebrities, including the Queen Mother who stayed there on her honeymoon. Mrs Greville had no children and when she died she bequeathed the estate to the National Trust.
