(Un)Common Gull

Larus canus in winter.

The so called 'common gull' isn't really very common, but here in Fife, during the winter months when black-headed gulls gather in small flocks, a few common gulls can be found amongst them.

The common gull is the same size as the black-headed gulls but resembles a herring gull in appearance.
