Life in Newburgh on Ythan

Looking back

I guess that a lot of us, locked down as we are, are spending time looking out old family photographs.
Meet our paternal grandparents, Ida and William. They were married in 1905 at Chapeau, Canada. The photograph was taken the following day in Ottawa. Sadly, Ida was to die only 14 years later, a victim of the great 1918-19 'Flu epidemic, leaving behind 6 young children. Before her marriage Ida had been a teacher in a log-built school at Allumette Island, QC. You can see her and her pupils in an earlier blip.
