A Catalan Village

By CatalanVillage

Well, well, well.

With the village sloping up the hill to the left and the open countryside all around, in the centre of the photo there's a small building with an electricity pole next to it. This houses a well which takes water from the stream which runs underground along the valley, and until recently it was used by the local landowners to get water for irrigation. Now that irrigation water is being piped up from the River Ebro the well isn't so well used... except by those who didn't want to pay for it to be piped to their land. They still have to pay for the well water, which used to cost 50 cents per 1000 litres.
