Doing some boring

The new router has a 43mm diameter nose to fit in the plunge base. The old router had a 41.5mm nose, so the new machine wouldn’t fit in the old base. This was a shame because I wanted to leave the old base permanently fitted to the router table to make change over quicker and easier. So I fitted the faceplate on the lathe and bolted the old part on to bore it to the correct size. Setting up took quite a while to get the base socket concentric with the axis of the lathe. Then it was quite easy to bore it out to the new size. The old base is now permanently fitted in the router table so changeovers will be easy. Which is just as well because the gov has an idea......
