Over My Shoulder

Even though the daytime temperatures are quite a bit above freezing now, the snow depth still lies knee deep. And walking out into the marsh proved difficult as the underlying terrain was uncertain, causing me to lose balance.

I had some success with a fallen tree, but it was in shadow, however, when I turned the setting sun shone over my shoulder to illuminate the scene in this image. With muted sky above and foreground snow in shade, the emphasis is on the central band of trees in sunshine. One can hope the worst of winter is behind us.
