Beaver Dyke Reservoir

This reservoir is about 5 miles west of Harrogate and is tucked away in the valley of Oak Beck. Unlike the nearby Swinsty and Fewston reservoirs, it doesn't attract many visitors. We have walked around it a few years ago (in dreadful weather!), but today was definitely a good walking day.
Beaver Dyke Reservoir, was constructed in 1890. In 2008 the reservoir's owner, Yorkshire Water, decided that it was not economic to maintain its ageing structures. It was decommissioned between 2013 and 2015 leaving a residual lake.
Along the northern side there were lots of old and fallen trees which made for interesting surroundings - see the second extra.
