A pool of sunshine

An early visit from our first born provided a pleasurable start to the day, She came to wrap presents for her firstborns second birthday on Monday and was here for part of the weekly phone call I have with my dad . We try to ensure he has at least one call each day , now his granddaughters have joined in so he gets a few more [ not the grandsons, interestingly, who also love him but somehow haven't got on board with the calls }  My dad was more with it today , my other siblings have had less happy calls this week , we chatted around a variety of subjects and then I read him the second letter from 'The Screwtape Letters.' There is still much dragging of feet with regard to visiting and despite the governments announcement about people in care homes being able to receive visits my feeling is that a great reluctance , underpinned by the lack of insurance , will delay things further.

I am also disturbed by discussions around compulsory vaccination and
vaccine passports. It is all so tempting, especially when there is so much grief and sorrow around but it feels like the thin end of the wedge to me . Where will it lead ? Where will it end ?

Onto brighter matters , the sunlight pooling in the mid distance caught   my eye because it emphasised the lines running across the landscape from left to right , intersecting and creating a pleasing effect.

We went straight from our lovely walk to our green gym and lit a fire in order to burn a pile of wood that has been waiting to be dispatched for sometime. We had the delight of the fire while we worked on our various tasks. We pulled out other wood from its wrappings [ rescued 9 years ago when we demolished the garage ] and found suitable pieces for some new raised beds and a trellis. We are making progress!

We finished our day with a takeaway curry and watched a new series , Warrior Nuns . We enjoy different genres but both like magical fantasy, escapism has its place !
