Hole In The Sky

I seem to be tempted by the wider view recently, more usually I'm attracted to "intimate" scenes where I can explore shape and line and colour relationships. I wonder whether this is because winter is ending and looking forward to spring.

The willow is undoubtedly huge, in girth and height. Unfortunately it lost a limb which leaves a patch of empty sky and a blank area in the image. But I wanted to include the dead fall lying below the "hole" to complete the story.

The sky had only just clouded over and there was a definite colour shift across the top of the image, which I took out. There's a difference between what the eye sees and the camera records. I preferred to show the ripples in the clouds.
