Baltic Tellin #1
It was a glorious morning when after coffees and treats Mrs CBL and I walked along the shoreline. It was so warm that it was only a two layers day. For the the first time in a long time the waves weren’t rolling and the sea was calm.
Scattered along the shoreline in the aftermath of the recent storms were lots of clams. Baltic tellins to be precise. They are small clams that live directly under the surface of mudflats and coastal waters. The shell colour is polymorphic varying between individuals and between localities. Concentric growth rings indicating the age of the specimens are often clearly visible.
