Echoes of the Past

Today I was at Mount Batten. There was once a flying boat squadron based here and perhaps it's most famous posting was T.E. Lawrence of Lawrence of Arabia fame. Two large hangers and a sloping jetty into the water still remain (see first extra photo). Mount Batten played an important role in World War II. The second extra photo shows two commemorative plaques that tell a little of the story and are a poignant reminder of the bravery and sacrifice of those who served here.
