I want to break free

A hawthorn bud tries to break free from the encrustations of a lichen, the common yellow lichen, Xanthoria parietina.

This was taken on my reserve pocket compact camera (Ixus 285) that lives in my jacket pocket.  That was necessary because, when I left the house, I picked up my faulty camera instead of the older working one (they both look similar).
