Hope for the day

Sunrise this morning was obscured a bit by the thicker cloud hugging the mountains across the Sound, but the higher clouds catching the light showed promise for the day ahead. By the time I walked into work a little later for a rare day in, it was mostly blue skies, hence the extra picture of my busy commute! 

There were plenty of birds to see - lots of oyster catchers, the usual lone heron in one of the bays, some ducks, gulls and what may have been a snipe, but it was so big I wondered whether it was a rarer great snipe or a woodcock - not that the latter would likely be on the shoreline? Sadly I didn't manage to get a photo...
