Cannington Shaw no.7 Bottle Shop in St Helens

Scheduled Ancient Monument and Grade II Listed Building near Tesco superstore and Saints Stadium in St Helens.
Late 19th century, all that is left of the biggest bottle-making factory in the country.
The glass furnace used new technology (tank furnace) which sped up and revolutionised glass production. It helped St Helens to become an international glass-making success.
By the start of the World War I it was in disuse and by 1918 was used as a store.
In World War II it was used as an air raid shelter.
It’s part of our town’s industrial heritage and it’s a shame not to preserve it. There have been many plans / ideas of what to do with it but nothing has happened.
I walked from Tesco to a retail park to buy some items we cannot get in Tesco then walked back to Tesco and had a walk around the car park while I waited for Terry who was shopping in Tesco. Hence the photo. It's the only one I took today.

Feeling fed up with seeing TV trailers for a particular Oprah Winfrey show.
