On the bench

No wonder Eve needed a lie down. Her team were a girl short today but the opposing coach insisted playing with their full complement of players and so for most of the game Eve's team were playing against superior numbers and they didn't have any subs to bring on either. They more than made up for it with effort and determination. They were narrowly beaten in the end but put up a great show and I think Eve had her best match so far.

No wonder she needed a lie down. And a Snickers. And a bottle of Lucozade. And I doubt we will get her out of the bath for the next hour or so.

I'd lavished maple syrup, mustard and sugar all over a leg of pork before we went out and popped it in the oven on a very low heat so the house is smelling gorgeous but it's an hour or two yet before we can dive in and after that it's sofa time I think.

The mural behind Eve depicts John Muir who is a famous local from these parts before he headed off to America and started the national parks. Looks like he's about to enjoy a cheeky pint, which gives me an idea...
