Stanhope Burn Mine

Out on the moors this afternoon for a breath of fresh air and stumbled across some old mine buildings. This is a treat for a once practising mining geologist like myself, and some research back in the car proved productive.
The mine apparently dates back to the early 1800’s working fluorspar until the late 1970's.
