Butter beak

I attempted a bit of gardening this morning but it was rather half-hearted, and after a light lunch JJ and I walked around the gloopy wood, which really isn't getting any easier underfoot.

Most the the ditch has been cleared between the pond and the riding school, which has exposed all the land pipes and hopefully water will now drain off the fields.  The brambles that are piled up on the bank will be collected and shredded.

The siskins have been around for a week or so.  We only ever see them in late winter, never at other times of the year, so maybe these are heading north for the breeding season.
