Golden Sand

The day improved, by the time we went out it was quite sunny, and again about 7/8C.

As it got dark decided to blip the view with the twinkling lights.

The Viking Energy, in the foreground, is stationed in the bay for a few days, supporting the sand replenishment current project. (“ The “VIKING ENERGY”, built in 2019, is a DP-I shallow draft multipurpose workboat of 26,48 by 11,00 meters”)

The following info is courtesy of our local rag, the Bournemouth Echo:-

"This £7.5 million project will see around 350,000 cubic metres of sand and beach material being pumped ashore across eight depleted beach areas.

And as you will no doubt ask...

“Question:
How is the beach replenished of sand?
Answer:
Sand is dredged from a licensed area of seabed, for example, to the South East of the Isle of Wight. It is brought by dredger close to the section of beach where it will be deposited. The sand is then pumped through a long pipe on to the beach. The sand is mixed with water to assist it being pumped. As the mixture exits the pipe the water flows back in to the sea leaving the new sand behind. The beach is then levelled using bulldozers”

We still have the 2 cruise boats moored in the bay, the one in the distance is the Anthem of the Seas.
